Spiral Submerged Arc Welded Steel Pipe (SSAW)

Product Overview

Our spiral welded pipe rolling mill is independently developed and manufactured by our company. We have an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons of pipe, with spiral welded pipe specifications ranging from DN219 to DN3600. Our entire production line can be transferred to the project site. This feature not only reduces pipeline transportation costs but also minimizes pipeline damage during transportation and helps ensure timely project execution by providing continuous and dedicated pipeline supply for specific projects.

Product Details

Product Advantages

High Flexibility: Steel strips of the same width can be produced in different diameters, adapting to small-batch, multi-specification orders.

Large Diameter Advantage: Maximum outer diameter can reach over 3000mm, which is difficult to achieve with other processes.

Economical Cost: Compared to LSAW, raw material and manufacturing costs are lower.

Stable Submerged Arc Welding Quality: Automated welding, aesthetically pleasing welds, and 100% X-ray inspection capability.

Controllable Length: Continuous production of any length (typically 6-18m) reduces on-site interfaces.

Application Areas

Long-distance water conveyance, irrigation, and main pipeline projects;

Wastewater treatment plant discharge pipes and rainwater flood discharge pipes;

Low-pressure gathering and transmission pipelines for oil and natural gas and slurry transportation;

Piles and pipes: ultra-large diameter bridge piles and offshore wind farm foundation piles;

Shield tunnel lining sleeves and power cable sleeves.

Product Parameters

Parameters

SSAW steel pipe (Spiral Submerged Arc Welded)

Manufacturing process

Hot-rolled steel strip is spirally coiled and formed, with double-sided submerged arc automatic welding of the spiral seam.

Outer diameter range

DN450~DN3600

Wall thickness range

5.0 mm~25 mm (commonly ≤20 mm)

Length range

Single piece 6~18m (any length can be continuously produced)

Executable Standards

API 5L, GB/T 9711, SY/T 5037, EN 10219

Common steel grades/materials

API 5L Gr.B/X42~X70, Q235B, L245~L485

Maximum working pressure

Medium to low pressure (generally ≤10 MPa, suitable for medium and low pressure)

Weld inspection

100% weld UT/RT, some standards require full-length hydrostatic pressure test.

Typical connection method

Welding (double-sided welding), flange

Main advantages

Low cost and flexible length

Main limitations

The pressure rating is low, the weld is long, and the end ovality control requirements are high.

Commonly used internal/external coatings

3PE, coal tar enamel, internal and external epoxy coating/polyethylene coating

Seamless Steel Pipe

Seamless steel pipes are manufactured through piercing, hot rolling, or cold drawing processes, resulting in a pipe without any weld seams. Hot-rolled pipes are suitable for medium to large diameters and thick walls; cold-drawn pipes offer higher dimensional accuracy and smoother inner and outer surfaces, and are widely used for conveying high-pressure, high-temperature, and corrosive media.

High-frequency Resistance Welded Steel Pipe (ERW)

ERW steel pipes are made by cold-bending hot-rolled steel strips, then heating the edges of the strips to a molten state using the skin effect and proximity effect of high-frequency current, followed by extrusion welding to form a straight seam. HFW (high-frequency welding) is an upgraded process, offering more stable welding quality.

Straight Seam Submerged Arc Welded Steel Pipe (LSAW )

LSAW steel pipes use thick steel plates as raw materials. Through JCOE (progressive bending forming), UOE (U-shaped-O-shaped-expansion) or direct forming processes, the steel plates are gradually pressed into a cylindrical shape, and then a straight weld is formed by double-sided submerged arc automatic welding.
