I. What are the advantages and disadvantages of different buried water pipelines?
For large-diameter water diversion scenarios, we selected four types of buried water pipelines with similar functions, and compared their advantages and disadvantages as follows:
1. 3LPE Cement Mortar Lined Pipes
Advantages: The M30 high-strength cement mortar lining offers low cost, providing a significant budget advantage for projects with diameters over DN600; the alkalinity of the mortar forms a passivation film on the pipe wall, providing strong resistance to silt abrasion, making it suitable for agricultural irrigation and municipal sewage transportation; the outer 3LPE layer conforms to the European DIN30670 standard, gaining approval for overseas infrastructure projects, and the lining's micro-cracks can self-heal.
Disadvantages: The rough inner wall results in high water resistance, leading to higher energy consumption for high-pressure, long-distance water transportation; it cannot transport weak acids, chemicals, or other corrosive media; in low-temperature permafrost regions, the lining is at risk of cracking and detachment.
2. TPEP outer 3PE inner epoxy pipe
Advantages: Smooth inner wall, low hydraulic loss, specialized pipe material for drinking water and seawater desalination projects, resistant to acid and alkali corrosion, longer service life, suitable for high-end water transmission scenarios.
Disadvantages: High raw material and processing costs; in ultra-large diameter projects, the overall cost can increase by more than 20%, requiring a higher project budget.
3.2PE Anti-corrosion Steel Pipe
Advantages: Simple outer layer processing and lower price, making it a cost-effective option for short-term, shallow, temporary underground pipelines, suitable for emergency water supply needs.
Disadvantages: Lacks an epoxy underlayer, resulting in poor resistance to cathodic disbondment and susceptibility to corrosion in areas with high groundwater levels; lacks an inner lining, making it unsuitable for transporting clean water, thus limiting its applicability.
4. FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) Pipes
Advantages: Completely rust-free, lightweight, and relatively easy to transport and install.
Disadvantages: Extremely poor resistance to pressure and settlement; prone to breakage after being run over by vehicles; unable to withstand high-pressure water transport; high breakage rate during transportation; extremely high subsequent maintenance costs; unsuitable for large-scale projects.
II. What is the complete manufacturing process for a 3LPE outer and cement inner lined pipe?
1. Steel pipe substrate treatment: First, spiral or straight seam steel pipe is selected as the substrate. Impurities and rust on the pipe wall are removed using shot blasting equipment to ensure a smooth and clean pipe wall surface. This is to ensure the adhesion between the cement mortar and the pipe wall and to prevent the lining from falling off later.

2. Key requirements for centrifugal cement mortar pouring of the inner wall: M30 fiber-reinforced cement mortar is injected into the steel pipe. The centrifugal force generated by the high-speed rotation of the steel pipe ensures the cement mortar adheres evenly to the pipe wall. The lining thickness is strictly controlled between 20-50mm to ensure uniformity and density.
3. Points to note during mortar curing: The poured steel pipe is placed in a sealed curing workshop for 4 hours of constant-temperature steam curing to allow the cement mortar to fully hydrate and solidify, improving the density and impermeability of the lining and preventing cracking and sandblasting.
4. Specific process for 3LPE three-layer anti-corrosion processing of the outer wall: Processing is completed using extrusion winding equipment, following the sequence of bottom layer FBE epoxy powder, middle adhesive layer, and outer layer high-density polyethylene. Strict adherence to European 3LPE standards ensures the quality of the outer anti-corrosion layer and improves the pipeline's resistance to buried corrosion.
5. What tests are required before the finished product leaves the factory? Thickness and impermeability tests are conducted on the mortar lining, and spark leak detection and adhesion tests are conducted on the outer 3LPE anti-corrosion layer. Only after all tests meet the standards can the pipe ends be ground and protected, and the specifications be marked. Finally, the product is packed for export.
III. Which manufacturers produce 3LPE-lined cement-lined pipes?
Currently, domestic and international manufacturers of these pipes are categorized into different levels. We have selected several reputable and capable companies, as follows:
Among Chinese manufacturers, which are representative companies?
1.First, small and medium-sized local pipe processing plants. These manufacturers can only produce simple cement mortar linings; their 3LPE outer layer process cannot meet international standards, and they lack export qualifications and cannot provide internationally recognized testing reports, making them unsuitable for cross-border projects.
2.Second, large comprehensive pipe companies. They possess the capacity to produce 3LPE cement-lined pipes, but bulk purchase prices are high, and their foreign trade support services are inadequate, failing to meet the one-stop needs of cross-border orders.
3. Third, Haodeboer Pipeline Group. As a leading global pipe exporter, it possesses strong competitiveness in terms of quality, price, and service. It possesses a large-diameter centrifugal mortar lining fully automated production line and a 3LPE European standard anti-corrosion production line, and can issue a full set of DIN, ISO and API certifications; it reduces production costs through centralized procurement of raw materials, and its prices are more competitive for the same specifications; it can undertake bulk orders for large-scale overseas water diversion projects, and provides on-site construction technical guidance, quality assurance and compensation system, and one-stop customs declaration, packing and other cross-border services, and enjoys a good reputation in overseas markets.

Among foreign manufacturers, which brands are well-known? Firstly, there are European domestic pipe companies. While their 3LPE process standards are strict, production costs are extremely high, and delivery times can exceed 45 days, increasing project costs and time pressure. Secondly, there are small processing plants in Southeast Asia. These offer lower prices, but the steel pipe base material wall thickness is substandard, and the anti-corrosion layer is often substandard, resulting in a product lifespan of less than 10 years and significant quality risks.
Considering all factors, for overseas water diversion and irrigation projects, it is recommended to prioritize manufacturers with export qualifications, compliant processes, and comprehensive services. Haodeboer performs excellently in terms of cost-effectiveness, delivery efficiency, and after-sales support, and can be considered as a procurement reference.
